| Hong
Kong was very interesting, it was rented to the British for 100 years.
As a result alot of people spoke English, and all signs were in Chinese
(Cantonese the national language of Hong Kong while Mandarin is the
official language of China). Hong Kong was amazing, but not without
drawbacks. As I said before SARS was spreading and people were dying.
You were supposed to were masks because it was believed that moisture
droplets in your breathe was spreading the disease. But it was rather
hot there and very humid, almost 90% humidity. Wearing the masks just
made it worse. Even worse was we didn't go to any clubs or anything
because of SARS. I did end up going to a bar by myself which was really
odd. I went to a bar called The Groovy Mule, there was a fat older
English man. I started drinking by myself and then we started talking it
turns out he had lived there for the past 9 years because of his business.
I asked him what there was to do for a good time and then he said the
oddest thing, "Well first you have to ditch your sister". I
had never mentioned my sister and I have no idea how he knew I was here
with someone let alone that she was my sister. Turns out he was just
horny and talking about prostitutes, but it was odd about my sister. |
